“I encourage people to reach out and help others with no thought of getting anything back and see how it feels. It just might change your life like it changed mine,” says Doctor of Chiropractic Stephen Brune

Dr. Brune, along with 12 physicians and 6 medical personnel and nurses arrived at Rangoon, largest city in Myanmar (formerly Burma) to provide healthcare services in areas where people need them the most. Before they can proceed, however, there was one issue that needed to be addressed. “The government had to provide us with permits to go out into the back country to provide healthcare services,” said Dr. Brune.

“We went to the outlying communities and orphanages to treat those people who needed our services most, then we were taken to education institutions and colleges and treated the staff of these facilities. In total, we provided much needed health care to over 800 people throughout Myamar,

“The people were appreciative and thankful for the services we provided. Some people suffered 1 to 2 years with pains and aches and when they had hands on care and treatment and I could see their faces change in front of me, that brought me great joy and happiness.

“The most rewarding part of the trip is seeing how with some care and attention you can improve and change a person’s life. Some patients I saw had non-stop headaches for months, but had tremendous relief after I worked on them. I think that is what motivates me to go on these trips. Somehow I feel better for giving to others and changing their lives. To me there is nothing more rewarding then helping another person do better in life.”

This is Dr. Brune’s 13th trip around the globe and according to him, each of these trips and new experiences makes him a better person. Dr. Brune goes to Ethiopia next March.
